Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. Our youth group has a name,
"Cornerstone".
Youth activities at First United Methodist Church in Warner Robins are open to all youth from 7th Grade to 12th Grade. We strive to provide youth with fellowship and guidance to help them grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and to make Him the cornerstone of their lives. Each week begins on Sunday with Sunday School and a choice of worship services. The New Creations Youth Choir meets on Sunday afternoon. This is followed by United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) and a snack supper. During UMYF, we typically start out with announcements and sharing of prayer concerns and praises; followed by games, music, fellowship, and discussions of faith. The UMYF programs are geared toward applying the Gospel to our everyday life. On Wednesdays (September - May), our church family participates in Fellowship Supper. The youth handbell rehearsal is held before supper and a youth Bible Study is held after supper.. During the year, we have a variety of trips and opportunities for service. We also have other special events and Bible studies throughout the year. Our retreats are full of fun, fellowship, and adventure; but, at the center of each event is our desire to further our Christian growth. The Snow Ski Retreat is one of our most popular events. Typically a three to four day event over the President's Day weekend in February, this event allows for plenty of skiing but also involves morning devotions and evening programs. Our summers are packed with even more activity while the youth are out of school. On Sunday evening, we add Afterglow to our regular schedule (following the evening worship). On Wednesdays, Wacky Wednesday activity is always action-filled and full of surprises. The kickoff event for each summer is our Progressive Supper. At this time, we welcome rising 7th Graders into our youth programs. Youth week adds enthusiasm and excitement. During this week, we have special guests who bring us the message God has placed upon them for us. Throughout the year, and especially during the Summer, our youth are involved in mission projects. We participate in the local missions of our church (Food Pantry, Soup Kitchen, Helping Hand Program, and Antebellum Grove Devotional Time). Through monthly contributions, the youth sponsor a Compassion International child from Bolivia. We also participate in mission projects sponsored by other mission groups. Another yearly tradition is our participation in Youth Celebration at Epworth-By-The-Sea. During this November weekend, we meet youth from throughout Georgia. This weekend includes group gatherings, workshops, great music, and awesome speakers. Sr. High (Grades 9 - 12)
