Mighty men of God where are you in the modern world today?

Are you a leader in the faith,

or does your absence cause God dismay?
Are you in church each Sunday,

and teaching Sunday School there, too?
You know your children learn to live their lives by closely watching you.

As Jesus hung in agony on that cruel crucifixion cross,

He gazed upon the women weeping at their imagined loss.

I can almost hear the thought thatcrossed his mind back then,

“I see the women and beloved John; where are my other mighty men?”
The heavy burdens that you bear as you stumble along life’s track,

Cannot compare to the cross that Jesus bore to win you back.

Jesus knocks upon your heart with his nail-scarred hand of grace,
Don’t run from Him, like Peter did, and try to hide your sinful face.

Jesus prayed, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”

His prayer forgave the vicious Roman soldiers, and it also covers you.

His disciples turned their backs on Him and fled in fear and shame.

Father God forgave them too, when they prayed in Jesus’ Holy Name.
