About Us

Worship at First Methodist is vitally important.

We meet to discover the way of Jesus, to connect with community, and to explore together ways we can serve one another and others.

When we worship as a community of faith we give praise, glory, and devotion to God.

At the same time we are changed by being in the presence of God and one another. We expect worship to be a time of transformation. And it is our fervent desire that it not end at the close of the service.

Each week we look for ways to put what we experience in worship into life in the week ahead.

Currently, we offer two nearly identical worship services that are blended in character. By blended we mean that there are elements from several worship styles. Our pastors, acolytes and choir wear robes and albs. The pipe organ, stained glass and pews give the room a very traditional feel.

But most Sundays our praise band plays for at least one set during the service which gives a very contemporary feel to the service. We have hymnals, but we also project words on screens for singing.
The 8:30 and 10:50 services are largely the same.
The 8:30 service features a smaller chorus, while the 10:50 service has the larger Chancel choir.

The 10:50 service also includes a children’s sermon and children’s church.

Both services begin with a few announcements prior to worship. During the service we sing, pray and listen to teaching, or what is traditionally called preaching.

On the first Sunday of each month we celebrate Holy Communion.
