Habitat for HumanityOur participation with Habitat has continued over several years and houses and includes both Habitat for Humanity and Apostles’ Build.
The major difference between HH and AB is the source of funding. Apostles’ Build is a shared commitment among local Christian churches of all denominations, wherein the churches not only share in the work effort, but also contribute significantly to the financial backing for this shared home-build.
This is a tremendous opportunity for Christian brothers and sisters to share in a faith-based fellowship. Beyond that it is a great opportunity to learn how a house is built literally from the ground up.
To be a part of this outreach ministry, it is not necessary to possess in-depth knowledge of construction methods to contribute. An ability to swing a hammer, drive a nail, or fix lunch will place you in great stead with either of these building programs.
Building a home is usually a once-a-year opportunity as a dedicated FUMC effort, but the folks at Houston County Habitat for Humanity will take help any weekend on any house.
