Relay for Life

Relay for Life is a never ending fundraising effort dedicated to finding a cure for that relentless destroyer of human life—cancer.  There is no off-season or time-out in this relay.  Day in and day out our friends and neighbors are confronted with the horrible consequences of that dreaded diagnosis, “it’s malignant.”

Throughout the year, members of First Methodist join together with others across the world in these fund raising efforts.
In the spring, here in Houston County there is the annual culmination of the year’s efforts at the annual Relay for Life at the Houston County Fair Grounds.

The Relay is an all night vigil that takes place at the track.  The track is surrounded with luminaries that are placed in honor of those who have either perished from this deadly disease or those who have survived it.  The track is never empty that night. Someone is always moving forward in the relay.  The 5th MOB jogs — yes jogs, endlessly, demonstrating both pride and commitment.  The need for volunteers is always there, and your help is most gratefully accepted.

If you have a willingness to roll up your sleeves, get out and participate in typical fundraising activities: tee-shirt sales, bake sales, passing the hats, etc., please join us.
