In his remarkable prayer shortly before his arrest, crucifixion, and resurrection, Jesus prayed for himself, his disciples, and the world. In praying for his disciples, he asked the Father to "Sanctify them by the truth; your word is the truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world." (John 17:17-18) We at First United Methodist Church believe the good news of Jesus Christ is spread through the preaching of the Word and the making of disciples who go forth into the world to serve. As grateful recipients of God's grace, we seek to share his grace with others as a welcoming, loving, forgiving, and growing community of faith. We deeply desire that all may come to know Jesus Christ personally as Savior, Lord, and friend. Members grow spiritually (are discipled) and spread the gospel (evangelize) as they participate in the life of the church. Discipleship occurs through a strong Sunday School, a variety of structured Bible Studies (Disciple, Bethel, and others) and active groups such as the United Methodist Men, United Methodist Women, Tender Loving Care Group, Keenagers (Sonshine Bunch), Prayer Breakfast Group, and many others. A committed laity is the moving force in a variety of active ministries: Soup Kitchen, Food Pantry, Clothes Closet, Visitation Team, Television Ministry, and other avenues of outreach. Others participate in our Music Ministry, thriving with vibrant choirs for Preschool through adult ages, and our Wednesday Night program filled with good food, fellowship, and study. Of course, gathering together to worship God will always be central in the life of the church, for in worship, God unifies us in spirit and strengthens us to serve. We have a place for you here at First United Methodist Church. A place to be loved, to belong, to grow, to serve. We hope you will prayerfully consider making First United Methodist Church of Warner Robins your church home. OUR MISSION
